Tips for getting tickets (our take)

  1. Set an alarm for the 10th. Convert 10 a.m. Japan time to your local time. Popular days, like weekends, can sell out quickly.
  2. Choose your date and time first. Your ticket is for one date and one entry time. There is no set exit time, so you can stay until closing.
  3. Have a backup date ready. If your first choice is gone, try a weekday.
  4. Do not buy resale tickets. The official page says buying tickets for resale is not allowed.

Last-minute tickets?

Tickets for each month go on sale on the 10th of the month before. If tickets are sold out, the official page does not list any other way to buy at the museum.

Our take: if you missed the sale, look at the bus tour by Sunrise Tours (JTB). It includes the Ghibli Museum.

Ghibli Museum vs Ghibli Park

The Ghibli Museum (Tokyo) and Ghibli Park (Aichi, near Nagoya) are different places. Tickets for one cannot be used at the other.
